Guy Ritchie, Henry Cavill Thriller Finds Streaming Audience

Guy Ritchie reunited with Henry Cavill and Jake Gyllenhaal for the spy thriller In the Grey, and the film has found an audience on digital platforms since landing on VOD stores on Jun. 2. Co-starring Eiza Gonzalez, Rosamund Pike and Carlos Bardem, In the Grey is already trending across multiple services.

VOD charts vary by store: on the Apple Store it is the second most popular movie this week, with The Super Mario Galaxy Movie in third. On Amazon it sits fourth, while Project Hail Mary dominates the top spot on both Apple and Amazon and even appears in both first and third places on Amazon.

The Google Store tells a different story, placing In the Grey sixth behind Markiplier's Iron Lung, Hokum and Avatar: Fire and Ash. The film had a short theatrical release before moving to VOD after opening in mid-May. Made for $70 million, In the Grey grossed $5 million domestically and $15 million worldwide, putting it among Guy Ritchie's biggest financial flops alongside King Arthur: Legend of the Sword.
