ILL's trailer shows extreme gore and echoes Resident Evil and Dying Light
ILL landed unexpectedly during June's PlayStation State of Play, and its latest trailer makes a strong first impression: first-person melee and shooter action drenched in graphic violence, with a lead voice that sounds suspiciously like Leon S. Kennedy (Nick Apostolides).
It was easily the most violent display of the showcase and even draws comparisons to the brutality of Logan. Developed by Team Clout, ILL feels like a mash-up of familiar horror influences. Dead Island 2's FLESH system — where flesh melts away to reveal yellow fat, grey matter glistens after a head punch, and machete blows can surgically lop off limbs — seems to have left a clear imprint on the game's approach to anatomical realism.
The trailer itself leans into that physicality: a decapitated head pinned to a wall sprouts tentacles, the protagonist repeatedly punches a grotesquely bloated skull, and a bullet tears through an eye socket with cheek tendons dangling like half-cooked strands of pici pasta.
