Idle Taskbar Game Tops Steam Charts Amid Bot-Driven Marketplace
Released at the end of May, TBH: Task Bar Hero is a tiny desktop idler that sits in a portion of the taskbar while pixel heroes fight and gather loot. It has climbed to third place on Steam’s concurrent players chart, just below Counter-Strike 2 and Dota 2, but many users say the player count looks unusual and not all those accounts are real.
The gap between its massive concurrent numbers and the number of reviews has raised eyebrows: around 487,000 concurrent players versus roughly 4,072 reviews, with only 51 percent positive. The Steam marketplace is crowded with listings — the in-game wood resource appears over 200,000 times — and while most items sell for pennies, a few rare weapons are listed above $1,000.
One bow currently has a single listing for $1,585.75, despite the highest recorded sale for that item being $22. Developers have acknowledged server strain in patch notes, and players blame the load for lag and disappearing rare drops.
