I upgraded to a Wi‑Fi 7 mesh — Deco 7 Pro BE14000 three‑pack $500
Converting a basic home Wi‑Fi setup to a full Wi‑Fi 7 mesh network was the biggest upgrade I did last year. Thanks to a Prime Day deal, the TP‑Link Deco 7 Pro BE14000 three‑node pack is $500 at Amazon. At that price you’re essentially getting three Wi‑Fi 7 routers for about $167 apiece, which makes them good value for money given what they offer.
I reviewed this kit last year under the alternate name Deco BE68 and came away impressed. A mesh setup delivers seamless coverage: you can hardwire nodes together via LAN ports or, as I do, plug all PCs into one router and link the rest wirelessly over the 5 GHz and 6 GHz bands.
My internet connection tops out at 1.1 Gbps, and with the Deco BE68 I never see anything less. It also helps that some rigs are only Wi‑Fi 6 or 6E capable; using LAN ports alongside a wireless node‑to‑node mesh gives the best of both. There is one drawback: configuration is only available through TP‑Link’s phone app, which feels basic and hides some features behind a paywall.
