Capcom is releasing Dragon’s Dogma 2 DLC in October and recently showed a longer look at what to expect: new customization options, new abilities, “improvements” to Dragonsplague, and a whole new region. Climbing monsters has been a quintessential part of Dragon’s Dogma since the first game.

Unless you play a mage, the typical way to tackle a troll, gryphon, drake or other big attacker is to get behind it, climb onto its back, make your way to the head, and start swinging. It’s even more dramatic when the enemy has wings; they can take off with you on their back and turn the fight into a dangerous sky battle, sometimes dropping you halfway across the map.

Dark Arisen 2 brings more big guys to climb, including a yeti that looks like a fuzzy troll with bigger tusks. Is it just a fuzzy troll with bigger tusks? Absolutely. Am I still stoked to climb it? You bet I am. I’d like to see some truly new enemies, since many of the new guys shown so far are reskinned old guys with ice powers added in.
