How to complete the Distortions quest in Destiny 2

You receive the Distortions quest from Lodi in the Tower after visiting Ikora and Lodi. Lodi frames the task as an introduction to the new Distortions event, which includes a range of desirable event weapons and attunement for most activities. Head to the currently Distorted destination, marked by a red circle.

Complete a public event there, then wait for a red glowing pillar to begin building and a new event countdown to start. The Distortion event plays like a wave defense; between enemy waves you must shoot three glowing red corruptions hidden around the arena. Completing the event counts whether you succeed or fail.

Next, collect Strange Matter by opening chests, gathering destination material nodes, and completing public events until it converts into a Strange Signal. That signal appears on the map as a circular marker — select it to activate the nav marker and follow it.
