How to Compete on American Ninja Warrior: Eligibility and Training Tips
Each season, co-hosts Akbar Gbajabiamila, Matt Iseman, and Zuri Hall introduce a fresh lineup of competitors tackling one of the world’s toughest obstacle courses. It takes strength, fearlessness and determination, and even longtime Ninjas say the event has a unique energy.
"You can really feel the energy while watching the show," ANW icon Daniel Gil said. To be eligible, applicants must be legal U.S. residents, at least 15 years old at the time of their Regional Qualifying Round, not currently or intending to be a candidate for public office, in good health for strenuous activity, and available for the Regional Qualifying round and National Finals if selected.
The application asks about athletic ability and life experiences and requires a recent digital photo and a short video. Casting typically opens in the summer and casting announcements are shared on social media, with timelines varying by season.
