How Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s romance began, days before their wedding

Their courtship began when Travis Kelce attended Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour stop in Kansas City in July 2023 and slipped her his phone number on a friendship bracelet. Swift declined to meet at the time, saying she had to save her voice for the 44 songs she sings, and Kelce later said he took it personally.

In the months that followed, Kelce maintained a no-strings-attached approach, dating others and not pursuing Swift heavily; they did not become exclusive until September 2023. Early on he was reportedly slow to reply to her texts, and the relationship only deepened over time.

The couple became engaged in August 2025 after two years together and plan to wed over the July 4 weekend. A rehearsal dinner is scheduled for July 2 at Madison Square Garden for about 100 close family, with the ceremony at the venue on July 3 expected to host between 1,000 and 2,000 guests.
