How Matt Brown's ex-girlfriend attempted to help 'Alaskan Bush People' star before tragic death
Jamie, Matt Brown’s ex-girlfriend, did everything she could to help him through his personal struggles, spending months urging him to seek professional help and believing she could not be his only source of strength. Even after their breakup she remained committed to his well-being; people close to Matt viewed her as a positive influence and described her as sweet, quiet, patient and extremely supportive.
Brown family friend Chay Moore of Stardog Champion K9 said the split was on Matt’s mind when Moore saw him three weeks before the tragedy, and that Matt was frustrated on their last meeting because his truck had broken down. Moore added that Matt had been walking and riding buses from town to town to survive.
Jamie also spearheaded the effort to find Matt’s body in the Okanogan River, pushing those involved to get out on the water because she had a notion of where he might be. Matt Brown was found dead in the Okanogan River in Washington on May 30; he was 43. An eyewitness called 911 after spotting a man wading in the river.
