How DWTS pro Emma Slater prepped for her SI Swimsuit runway debut
Emma Slater made her Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Runway Show debut at W South Beach during Miami Swim Week, striding the catwalk in a black Heidi Fish one-piece with chain detailing, cut-outs and an intricate dragon design. She called the moment “surreal,” saying she shed a tear when asked to take part after being approached while the DWTS cast was in New York, leaving her just 18 days to prepare.
Rather than drastic measures, Slater focused on skin and a few trusted beauty tricks: a Korean skincare routine that included an Arencia Booster Shot duo, COSRX eye patches, Abib sheet masks, and Beauty of Joseon sunscreen and Dynasty Cream, plus a Dolce Glow spray tan and instant bronzer for a polished sheen.
In the days before the show she avoided foods that make her bloat and took walks to get into a positive headspace. She kept training light after the DWTS: Live! tour — which left her “in tour kind of shape” after 97 shows in 111 days — doing reformer Pilates and little else.
