House of the Dragon showrunner says season 4 scripts are being shown to HBO
Season 3 is only just arriving on HBO, but showrunner Ryan Condal says work on season 4 is already moving forward and that they've begun showing scripts to HBO. "We're actually starting to show HBO," he said at a recent press conference, noting the pages are an early iteration and that there are many months to go before production.
Condal confirmed the fourth season will be the series' final act and expressed excitement about bringing the story to a close. "The machine is up and running and on its feet, then the fourth season, the end, the final act is a story we've been waiting for so we're all really excited about doing it," he said.
Based on George R.R. Martin's Fire and Blood, the show has traced the decline of House Targaryen through the Dance of the Dragons; the final season will conclude that tale. Condal warned the series heads into dark territory and asked, "Do we really expect happy endings in Westeros?
