House of the Dragon showrunner says season 3 stuck to original plan
Season 2 of House of the Dragon drew criticism for Rhaenyra’s perceived passivity and for a slow-moving war between the Greens and the Blacks, with a finale that many felt served as setup rather than a satisfying conclusion. At a press conference, showrunner Ryan Condal said the creative team "had a plan from the outset" and did not let fan complaints change it.
"The show has always been, 'We have a plan, we're not going to stop and listen to the noise in between,'" he said, noting the series was conceived as a four-season story and pointing to the long production cycle—scripts, a year of prep, and seven months to make dragons—as reasons for the gaps between chapters.
