'House of the Dragon' Season 3 Premiere Sees Slight Viewership Dip
The first episode of House of the Dragon Season 3 drew 21.5 million viewers across HBO and HBO Max in its first three days, Warner Bros. Discovery said. That figure is roughly 8% lower than the 23.4 million who watched the Season 2 premiere in its first three days.
The modest decline follows a controversial Season 2 finale that many viewers found underwhelming; that episode became the series' lowest-rated entry after delivering an extended setup for Season 3 rather than a climactic payoff. Warner Bros. Discovery also shared that weekly viewership for Season 2 tripled heading into the Season 3 premiere.
Season 3 opened with a notable continuity error but also showcased strong performances from actors such as Emma D'Arcy. New episodes of House of the Dragon Season 3 debut Sundays on HBO and HBO Max, with the season finale scheduled for Aug. 9, 2026.
