House of the Dragon is built heavily around the Targaryen dynasty and begins 172 years before Game of Thrones. The prequel fractures the family over who should sit the Iron Throne after King Viserys III's death, and its return has been capable of introducing new members of that pivotal house in subtle ways.

The Season 3 premiere, "Salt and Sea, Fire and Blood," provides the first on-screen look at Daeron Targaryen. Alicent Hightower's other children—Aegon, Aemond and Helaena—have featured heavily, while Daeron had been largely off-screen; he was sent away to be a ward of the Hightowers in Oldtown and is portrayed as younger when he leaves King's Landing.

The role is played by Benjamin Evan Ainsworth; his IMDb page has not yet been updated to include House of the Dragon, but it is him, and the episode teaser promises more on Alicent's youngest child. George R.R. Martin's Fire & Blood suggests Daeron will side with the Greens rather than support Rhaenyra.
