Horrified: Dungeons & Dragons — Ravenloft emerges as a standout
At the UK Games Expo, Horrified: Dungeons & Dragons – Ravenloft attracted heavy demand at the publisher's booth, prompting additional playtest tables to be set up to cope with interest. The crossover was a clear draw among visitors and testers at the show. The game continues the series' mix of cooperative monster-hunting and tense resource management, a blend that evokes Pandemic and Betrayal at House on the Hill.
It builds on the D&D class mechanics introduced last year: heroes use a d20 to trigger unique powers, and Ravenloft adds Warlock, Ranger, Druid, Sorcerer and Paladin classes. New "Dark Gifts" grant potent boons but carry costs, sometimes forcing card discards or flipping a character to a corrupted version.
Ravenloft shifts the tone from high fantasy to gothic horror, drawing on the Curse of Strahd campaign—essentially Dracula meets D&D. Expect vampires, a Baba Yaga–style walking hut and threats like the Gulthias Tree, which keeps summoning hordes of Twig Blights until it is torn from the ground.
