Henry Cavill's unpredictable thriller Night Hunter (also titled Nomis) has found a second life on streaming years after its 2018 premiere at the L.A. Film Festival. Cavill stars as Walter Marshall, a Minnesota police lieutenant who bends rules to hunt a serial killer, and his disheveled, weary appearance—far from the actor's usual dapper image—brought a different gravitas to the role.

David Raymond wrote and directed the film, which also features Ben Kingsley, Alexandra Daddario and Stanley Tucci. The plot blends police procedural, serial-killer mystery and vigilante elements, but critics were harsh: Night Hunter holds a 14% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and drew descriptions such as "hopelessly anticlimactic" and "ludicrously over-the-top." It earned about $1 million during a limited 2019 theatrical run, and while no budget figures were released the piece suggested a production cost in the $10–20 million range, making it one of the bigger flops of Cavill's career.

Despite that reception, the film has become a global streaming success.
