Henry Cavill to Star in Netflix Spy Comedy with Kevin Hart
Henry Cavill has signed to star in an untitled spy-action comedy for Netflix directed by McG, with Kevin Hart also attached. The film follows two rival spies who cross paths in a Lamaze class; their wives become fast friends, and their double lives collide in "unexpectedly hilarious and dangerous ways," forcing the men to become reluctant partners on the road to fatherhood.
Based on a short story by Sean Lewis, the project gives Cavill another opportunity to showcase the charm and action that made him a frequent name in James Bond conversations after his breakout as Superman in Zack Snyder's DC films. Commitments to that franchise and to Netflix's The Witcher, combined with the timing of Daniel Craig's exit, likely closed the window for him to take on 007.
Cavill has played similar roles before: a dapper CIA agent in Guy Ritchie's The Man from U.N.C.L.E., an action-focused operative in Mission: Impossible – Fallout, and he returns as Sherlock Holmes for the third time in this summer's Enola Holmes 3.
