The progression system in Helldivers 2 is being overhauled to change how players level up and earn rewards both individually and as a community. Mikael Eriksson, game director, says previous progression elements like raising the level cap in silo “aren’t enough” and wouldn’t address player feedback on a foundational level.

Major Orders will be replaced by Galactic War Campaigns: one-to-three week objectives with a clearer breakdown of what’s happening, what needs doing, and how players can join in faster. A planned feature called Planet Warfronts will add territorial skirmishes in three modes — Defend, Frontline War and Behind Enemy Lines — and completing them will influence the state of each planet.

Personal Orders are becoming Personal Campaign Progression as a parallel pathway alongside campaign goals, and the player level cap will rise to 300.
