Edgar Ramirez has joined the second season of Task, appearing alongside Mark Ruffalo. He will play Miguel Contreras, described as "a devoted family man and loyal DEA second-in-command torn between duty and guilt." Ramirez's credits include Zero Dark Thirty, The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story, and The Undoing.

Task debuted last year with Ruffalo assembling a task force in rural Pennsylvania to investigate drug-related robberies that escalated to murders. Season 2 is framed as "Tom Brandis (Mark Ruffalo) takes the helm of a new task force, but the deeper the operation runs, the harder it is to tell who’s the target." The new season also stars Mahershala Ali, Harry Melling, Adam Nagaitis, and Aminah Nieves.

Filming is scheduled to begin this summer. Task holds a 96% positive score on Rotten Tomatoes. Ruffalo earned a Golden Globe nomination for Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Television Series – Drama, and HBO has submitted him for the upcoming Primetime Emmy Awards.
