Hasbro Tries to Secure AI Voice Rights From Child Actors
The spread of AI has posed a growing threat to voice actors, whose performances can be closely replicated by software. After an 11-month strike over the issue, the problem remains: in 2026 examples ranged from Stan Lee’s likeness and voice being sold to an AI company to a Yu-Gi-Oh voice actor suing TikTok and a Mega Man actor stepping away from a game over contract disputes, with other companies experimenting with AI-voiced content.
Now it has emerged that Peppa Pig owner Hasbro is seeking contracts that would grant AI rights to child performers. The Agents of Young Performers Association says the contracts "insist[] that they agree to the use of AI thus allowing them to use the child’s voice in all commercial assets within their franchise." An open letter signed by more than 1,000 performers describes "a major studio who owns the IP for an international children’s franchise producing a long running animated television series," without naming the company; The Wrap reported the development.
