Harry Potter franchise moves to Paramount's cable channels
Roughly a decade after its previous cable deal, the eight Harry Potter films and three Fantastic Beasts spin-offs are on the move. Paramount signed a multi-year licensing agreement with Warner Bros. Discovery that makes MTV, Nickelodeon, Nick at Nite and Paramount Network the exclusive linear home of the franchise.
The 11-film slate — close to 40 hours of storytelling — begins July 3 with an Independence Day weekend marathon on MTV running July 3–5. Paramount Network will run one film each weeknight from July 13 through July 19; Nick at Nite hosts an eight-film showcase beginning Aug.
9, with each title encored the next day on Nickelodeon. Nickelodeon will also screen the films over Labor Day weekend from Sept. 3 as part of WBD's yearly "Back to Hogwarts" celebrations. NBCUniversal, which had the films' linear home since its 2016 deal, keeps co-exclusive streaming rights alongside Peacock and HBO Max.
