Harry Kane: 'I'd be one of the favourites' for Ballon d'Or
Harry Kane believes he will be a strong contender for the Ballon d'Or if he leads England to World Cup glory. After a season in which he scored 61 goals across all competitions, the forward said lifting the international trophy would solidify his claim for the sport's top individual prize.
He discussed his ambitions in an interview with L'Equipe; the Ballon d'Or will be awarded on October 26 in London. Kane enjoyed arguably the greatest campaign of his career, finishing as the Bundesliga’s top scorer with 36 goals in 31 matches. He won the European Golden Shoe for the second time in three years and secured three trophies, with Bayern Munich benefiting from his remarkable output.
He accepts that World Cup success is likely required to secure the honour. 'I’d be one of the favorites, definitely,' Kane said. 'Given the trophies I’ve won this season and the number of goals I’ve scored, I’d be in the running.
