Harry Kane has offered support to former Tottenham team-mate Christian Eriksen after the Denmark midfielder clutched his chest and fell during a friendly against Ukraine, an incident that echoed his cardiac arrest at Euro 2020. The England captain said he had been in touch and expressed relief that medical intervention had been successful.

Speaking to ITV Football, Kane said: "I've reached out to him [Eriksen] today" and added, "The main thing is the defibrillator was there and it worked." Eriksen famously returned to professional football with an Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator after his 2021 cardiac arrest, and early reports say the device performed its intended function during this episode.

Kane also noted he had not yet heard back from Eriksen, who has said he will go away, rest and spend time with his family. While the immediate danger appears to have passed, the collapse has raised questions about whether Eriksen can continue at the highest level.
