Halo trailer uses PS5 Pro footage, drawing fan disbelief
Halo: Campaign Evolved is set to launch on both Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5, and the latest publicity leaned on Sony hardware. Summer Game Fest 2026 showcased more footage of the remake, and the trailer carried a small on-screen note: "Captured on PS5 Pro." There are likely two central reasons for the choice: to highlight the game coming to PlayStation and because the PS5 Pro appears to deliver sharp, smooth clips for the footage.
Either way, using PlayStation capture for Master Chief feels unexpected to many observers. Fans voiced surprise on social platforms. "Seeing that and Halo together kind of makes my brain fry a little bit. If you showed me this 15 years ago I would have called this an impossibility," one wrote on Bluesky.
Others added, "On the official Halo channel is insane" and "Microsoft can't even console war correctly smh." One user predicted, "A year. I give E-Day a year." Gears of War: E-Day very nearly joined Fable and Halo: Campaign Evolved on PS5, with a port reportedly almost finished.
