Halo arrived on Paramount+ in 2022 and lasted two seasons before being canceled in 2024. Its production endured several upheavals—showrunners and directors changed during the run, and the series was originally slated to premiere on Showtime—yet it retained core elements from the games while taking its own direction.

The show places events in an alternate “Silver Timeline,” changing how familiar moments unfold. Season 1 builds toward the Fall of Reach and Season 2 depicts that battle in brutal detail. Executive producer Kiki Wolfkill framed the choice as a way to allow both the games and the television story to evolve: "In both protecting core canon and protecting the television story, and by that I mean being able to give ourselves the chance to evolve both and for both to be what they need to be for their mediums without colliding with each other." One major difference from the games is the portrayal of Master Chief, John-117, played by Pablo Schrieber.
