Gullit warns Amorim appointment could be 'very dangerous' for Pulisic
Ruud Gullit has warned that AC Milan's appointment of Ruben Amorim could be "very dangerous" for Christian Pulisic and other established players. Gullit praised Pulisic as a quality performer, saying he "has done really well for Milan" and has "bailed them out on many occasions with individual brilliance." Amorim joins Milan after a 14-month spell at Manchester United that ended in dismissal.
He managed 61 games, winning 24 for a 38.1 per cent win rate, and repeatedly used a 3-4-3 system that he was reluctant to change. Gullit urged Milan to assess the squad first and build tactics around the players rather than impose an unfamiliar system: "You need to look at the players you have first and then build your tactics around them.
If you impose a system that the squad has never played, you risk undermining their confidence. That's very dangerous." He also warned that club identity and changes in ownership philosophies can complicate a coach’s task.
