GTA San Andreas devs 'regretted' adding stealth, Rockstar veteran says
Former Rockstar technical director Obbe Vermeij says the team regretted adding stealth to GTA San Andreas. Replying to a fan about a silenced M9 Beretta found in GTA IV files and two apparently cut stealth missions, he wrote: "I don't know about the 2 missions.
My recollection is that stealth was specifically one of the things we regretted adding to SA as we ended up stretching ourselves too thin. So I thought stealth was never pursued in gta4. Then again, there were experiments going on all the time…" Vermeij did not deny that stealth or other ideas might have appeared briefly during development, noting there were experiments the team sometimes did not know about.
