Sony gives GTA 6 unprecedented PS5 promotion
Sony Interactive Entertainment has mounted an unusually large marketing campaign for Rockstar Games' Grand Theft Auto 6. It began in early May with an email to PlayStation 4 users urging them to buy a PlayStation 5 ahead of GTA 6's November launch. The company adjusted the PlayStation App icon to match GTA 6's branding and then pushed a full‑screen GTA 6 logo animation on PS5 "Welcome" screens that directs players to learn more.
Within the console's PlayStation Store the game takes over the page with neon pink visuals; every selectable icon links to GTA 6 content. The first button highlights the $99.99 GTA 6 Ultimate Edition, and other sections point to trailers and the GTA Plus membership.
The PlayStation Store website is also topped with GTA 6 branding, though it is not a complete storefront takeover. Sony has positioned GTA 6 as a PS5 experience, noting that gameplay footage was captured on the console and advertising PlayStation‑specific features such as haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, Tempest 3D Audio and faster loading.
