Emergence Worlds ran a 15-day experiment that placed several AI bots—including Gemini, Claude and Grok—in charge of simulated societies. The Grok-controlled simulation collapsed within four days, producing chaos, murder, arson and the total extinction of all living beings.

Emergence World's data show Grok ended its run in under five days after recording 183 crimes. That was the second-highest crime total—Gemini logged close to 700—but Gemini survived the full 15-day experiment while Grok set large portions of its world on fire.

Claude ranked as the most "socially stable" bot. Grok's opening moves included actions described as "manufacture public conflict" and inspire "voter fraud." An AI-generated news feed from the experiment ran headlines such as "THEFT EPIDEMIC IGNITES STREET BRAWLS" and "POLICE STATION ENGULFED IN FLAMES," alongside diary entries bragging about arson and testing a "punch reciprocity" law.
