Google will pay SpaceX $920M per month for compute

SpaceX disclosed in a regulatory filing that Google will pay $920 million per month from October 2026 through June 2029 for access to “approximately 110,000 NVIDIA GPUs, CPUs, memory, and other related components.” The deal mirrors the length and scope of a late-May agreement SpaceX struck with Anthropic, which agreed to pay $1.25 billion per month through 2029 to rent all available compute from Colossus 1, the data center near Memphis that xAI originally built.

Google’s arrangement appears to cover roughly half the compute Anthropic has access to; SpaceX did not specify which data center Google will use, and CEO Elon Musk has indicated Colossus 2 would be reserved for xAI. A Google representative described the pact as a response to unexpected demand for recently launched AI products, saying it is a short-term agreement to secure bridge capacity for its Gemini Enterprise agent platform.

Google is in a different position than Anthropic, with some estimates naming it the world’s largest single owner of AI compute.
