Google has quietly begun rolling out a feature that allows users to change their @gmail.com email addresses while keeping all their messages and connected services, according to the company’s support pages and reports of the rollout. The option was first noticed in a "Google Pixel Hub" Telegram group and is currently reflected on Google’s Hindi-language support page.

An English translation of that page said, 'The ability to change your Google Account email address is gradually rolling out to all users, so this option may not be available to you right now.' Google did not immediately respond to questions about the rollout. Under the change, a user’s old Gmail address becomes an alias and will still receive email, and users can sign in with either the old or new address.

Google says files, photos, subscriptions, calendar invites and purchase history remain on the existing account. The Hindi-language support content also indicates limits: an address can be changed only once every 12 months, accounts can create up to three new addresses (a lifetime total of four), and new addresses cannot be deleted.

The pages also suggest the change applies only to @gmail.com accounts and not to accounts provided through employers, schools or other groups.
