GOG apologises after newsletter displayed Nazi rune
GOG issued an apology on X for "an unfortunate visual association" that appeared in its newsletter for The End of the Sun, after the Proto-Germanic Sowilō rune — which translates to "sun" — appeared alongside the double SS "Siegrune" symbol. The newsletter went out sometime on June 5.
The game's developers, a Polish couple, said on Reddit they "don’t know why" GOG chose to use those symbols and were "totally surprised" to see the logo and symbols. They added: "But we are in contact with GOG, and we believe this was like an AI recommendation to use those symbols, or something like that.
We will ask GOG to just clarify things in the next newsletter." GOG posted on X: "We are sorry for today’s newsletter.
