God Of War Laufey May Answer One Of The Series’ Strangest Mysteries
God of War Laufey is the next entry in Santa Monica Studio’s series, but this time you play as Kratos’ late wife Faye. The story runs alongside the 2018 reboot, sending Faye through an Everwhen afterlife of gods from different mythologies as she tries to aid her husband and their son Atreus from beyond.
Only 20 minutes of the game have been shown and no release date has been announced. Players have long puzzled over a scene in the 2018 game where a distant horn summons Jörmungandr, the World Serpent in Midgard’s Lake of Nine, while Kratos carries a sick Atreus to Freya’s hut.
The identity of the horn-blower was never revealed, and the question persisted even after God of War Ragnarök concluded the Norse arc. The debut trailer for Laufey may bridge that gap. Faye wakes in the Everwhen and finds reason to suspect the path she set Kratos and Atreus on has been compromised; she insists she must act from the other side to keep them safe.
