Netflix reveals Ghostbusters: Night Shift, coming in 2027

On Ghostbusters Day, Netflix unveiled the first look at its new animated series, Ghostbusters: Night Shift. The show will debut exclusively on Netflix in 2027. Produced by Sony Pictures Animation, Night Shift lists Ben Hibon, Elliott Kalan, Jason Reitman, Gil Kenan, Amie Karp and Dan Aykroyd as executive producers.

Reitman and Kenan co-wrote the franchise’s most recent live-action entries, Ghostbusters: Afterlife and Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire. Netflix also released key art: a stylized take on the classic Ghostbusters logo that suggests the series will pair supernatural comedy with paranormal action, and might involve more than just immaterial spirits.

The project has been in development for several years, with details sparse until this reveal. Ghostbusters has a history in animation. The Real Ghostbusters ran seven seasons and continued many movie threads, while 1997’s Extreme Ghostbusters introduced new characters and an edgier tone.
