Gerard Butler stars as pilot Brodie Torrance in Plane, a 107-minute action thriller about his attempt to save passengers after a lightning strike forces an emergency landing on a war-torn island in the southern Philippines. Mike Colter co-stars as Louis Gaspare, a former GCP French Foreign Legioner being extradited to Canada on homicide charges.
The two distrust one another but team up to survive in a film critic Francesca Steele called "the ultimate Gerard Butler blockbuster." Directed by Jean-François Richet from a script by Charles Cumming and J. P. Davis, Plane opened Jan. 13, 2023. Made for $25 million, it grossed nearly $75 million, earned a 79% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes and a 94% Popcornmeter rating from viewers, making it one of Butler's highest-rated films.
Now available on Prime Video, Plane has climbed to the eighth most popular movie in the United States on the platform, surpassing films such as One Battle After Another and A Working Man.
