Gemini adds Lyria 3 for custom music generation

Lyria 3, the latest generative music model, is rolling out in beta in the Gemini app. Describe an idea or upload a photo — for example, 'a comical R&B slow jam about a sock finding their match' — and in seconds Gemini will translate it into a high-quality, catchy track.

You can also ask Gemini to take inspiration from something you upload. Lyria 3 improves audio generation in three key ways: it generates lyrics from your prompt so you don’t need to provide them, it gives more creative control over elements like style, vocals and tempo, and it produces more realistic, musically complex tracks.

Use cases include text-to-track prompts that specify genre, mood or memories, and photo- or video-to-track generation that composes music and lyrics to match the mood of uploaded content. The Gemini app creates 30-second tracks with custom cover art generated by Nano Banana, making them easy to download or share; the aim is to offer a fun, custom soundtrack rather than a musical masterpiece.
