Gemini 3 Deep Think upgraded for science, research and engineering

Gemini 3 Deep Think has been updated to tackle modern challenges across science, research and engineering. The specialized reasoning mode is available in the Gemini app for Google AI Ultra subscribers, and select researchers, engineers and enterprises can express interest in early access to test it via the Gemini API.

The upgrade was developed in close collaboration with scientists and researchers to handle problems that lack clear guardrails or single solutions and where data can be messy or incomplete. Early testers report practical successes: a mathematician used the mode to spot a subtle logical flaw in a technical paper, a university lab optimized a crystal growth recipe to produce thin films larger than 100 μm, and an R&D lead applied it to accelerate physical component design.

Performance on rigorous benchmarks has improved markedly.
