Geena Davis said she was "terribly disappointed" after Netflix canceled the show "The Boroughs," a comeback role produced by The Duffer Brothers. The actress said she wasn’t given a reason for the decision and added, "Honestly, I don't know what happened." The series was in the top 10 most popular current shows on Netflix, which she called "probably rare" for a canceled program.

The cast didn’t expect the axing. Creators had been advised to end Season 1 with a cliffhanger, but the team opted for "a complete story" with "a tiny hint at the end that maybe everything isn't fixed," and Davis said, "If we had made it as a limited series, then it would've been a big hit and everybody would be happy." "The Boroughs" starred Davis alongside Alfred Molina, Alfre Woodard, Denis O'Hare, Bill Pullman and Clarke Peters.

Marketed as "Stranger Things" for older people, it was a zany supernatural adventure set in a retirement community.
