It has been 15 years since a mainline Gears of War game supported four-player campaign co-op, and Gears of War: E-Day brings that feature back as The Coalition explores the origin of Marcus Fenix and Dominic Santiago's relationship. The game focuses on Bravo Squad — Marcus Fenix, Dominic Santiago, Mags Carter and Lucas Reyes — as they fight to survive while the city of Kalona crumbles beneath the Locus Horde.

Gears of War: E-Day launches on October 6, 2026 for PC and Xbox Series X. Players will be able to tackle the emergence of the Locust together in four-player online or two-player split-screen configurations. PlayStation owners will not be able to play the game, which is an Xbox console exclusive; a PC, Xbox Series X, or an active Game Pass subscription is required.

Creative director Matt Searcy says supporting four-player co-op was a significant technical commitment.
