Gears of War: E-Day's movement and cover changes could reshape multiplayer
Gears of War has long split players: some love its skittish multiplayer, while others see it as a sweaty killing field. That divide traces back to design choices that fixed overpowered shotguns and manipulated cover mechanics. The Coalition is aiming to change that with Gears of War: E-Day, shifting the Active Reload bar and, as creative director Matt Searcy puts it, rebuilding every animation, asset, mechanic, and system from an "empty harddrive" in Unreal Engine 5 to modernize movement.
Minor tweaks include the sprint camera no longer pushing in and a wider view to help players use more of the battlefield.
