The shift from physical games to digital ones has left GameStop with stores full of toys and collectibles and fewer new consoles and games on the shelves. One of the remaining reasons some customers still buy games there is the Pro Membership program, but that perk is about to shrink.

An internal memo to employees says the points system will be removed. Pro members currently earn 2-percent rewards on most purchases, which can be redeemed for discount coupons; buying one new $70 game a month yields roughly $17 in points over a year. The memo notes, “Pro Points accrual will end for new members beginning July 15, 2026,” and that existing members who renew before then can keep earning points until August 15, 2026, when remaining points will expire.

The membership will still cost $25 a year and no longer includes a subscription to Game Informer. Staff have raised concerns about continuing to push the program after the change.
