FTX Exec’s Wife to Face November Trial on Campaign Finance Charges
Judge George Daniels in the US District Court for the Southern District of New York set a Nov. 9 trial date for Michelle Bond, who faces four charges tied to campaign finance violations. The schedule follows delays tied to motions arising from her husband’s plea agreement; the judge last week denied Bond’s motion to dismiss an indictment that argued prosecutors had promised Ryan Salame she would not be charged.
Prosecutors allege Bond and Salame illegally funded her 2022 campaign for the US House, saying Salame used $400,000 of FTX funds as part of a sham payment. Bond ran as a Republican in New York’s 1st congressional district and lost the primary to Nicholas LaLota.
Ryan Salame pleaded guilty to conspiracy to make unlawful political contributions and was sentenced to 90 months in prison after initially seeking to vacate his plea on the ground prosecutors had misled him about charges to be brought against his wife. He began serving his sentence in October 2024 and left unresolved questions to Bond’s case.
