Phones can fill up fast with years of photos and videos, and clearing them out with Google Photos often feels slow. Sponge takes a different approach, letting you swipe left to delete and right to keep, and it supports single-photo deletion and date-based purges — with collection deletion available in the Premium version.

The app only removes images from your local device, leaving cloud backups untouched. The free version deletes photos by month; adding video deletion and photo-by-collection requires a one-time in-app Premium payment of $3.49. Installation is through the Google Play Store and the workflow is simple: tap “View all,” open a month, then swipe through each image.

After reviewing a month’s worth of photos you can choose to “Delete forever,” and the app shows how many items you reviewed and how much space you freed. Sponge can also remind you each month via a notification to purge old photos.
