France 1-2 Ivory Coast: Cherki shines as France undone by defensive errors
Rayan Cherki scored a memorable goal, but a much-changed France side couldn't hold onto the lead and dropped their first World Cup warmup game to Ivory Coast, 2-1. Manager Didier Deschamps made plenty of changes while still naming a strong side. France started on the front foot; Kylian Mbappe came close several times and Adrien Rabiot lashed narrowly over after 15 minutes.
Cherki created half a yard of space and fired past Yahia Fofana to put France ahead, but Strasbourg full-back Guela Doue levelled after 53 minutes. Deschamps reshuffled heavily at half-time, making five changes and rotating his bench, which had limited impact. Ivory Coast's substitutes proved decisive: Diallo came on at the break and finished a flowing move with a tidy slot into the bottom corner.
