I've been an Android devotee for more than 15 years and often point out that “Android did it first.” With iOS 27, many of the flashy iPhone tricks exist in some form on Android, and in some cases users have had them for years, though I’ll admit a few of Apple’s additions are neat.

Apple’s new Siri AI promises deeper conversational ability and on‑screen awareness, but Google’s Gemini has handled conversations, cross‑app actions, and context from messages and email for some time. On the photo side, Android already offers AI edits like Magic Eraser, Generative Expand, subject repositioning and background generation, even as Apple adds Spatial Reframe, Cleanup and Expand.

Apple Intelligence’s tricks for Messages and Wallet mirror what Google Photos and Google Wallet can do with Lens integration, and Android long allowed separate control of ringtone, alarm and media volumes — features iOS 27 is only now formalizing with some AI-driven tweaks.
