Fortnite Adds Creator Who Used Homophobic Slur as Pride Month Sidekick
Fortnite added VTuber TheBurntPeanut to the game as a sidekick at the start of Pride Month. The streamer, who uses a peanut VTuber costume, is known for playing games like Arc Raiders and Marathon and has amassed millions of followers across Twitch, Instagram, and YouTube.
He also hosts a regular segment called 'Slur Saturday.' The move prompted backlash because TheBurntPeanut has used homophobic slurs on stream. He once dropped an unbleeped f‑slur during an Escape from Tarkov broadcast, and a separate viral clip shows him bleeping many words after saying a slur while frustrated in Arc Raiders.
Fans shared those clips with Epic Games employees and criticized the inclusion, while others downplayed the controversy by invoking a 'Call of Duty lobby' justification for coarse language. One ResetEra user wrote, "I genuinely don’t understand how this happened.
