At Summer Game Fest, Rebel Wolves CEO Konrad Tomaszkiewicz — who worked on The Witcher 3 and its two previous expansions — said he has never been able to play the Witcher games as a normal fan. "I've never played The Witcher games as a player," he admitted. He explained that working across the series made him "the developer playing it all the time," and added, "I couldn't play The Witcher 3 right now, even from the start, because I saw it too many times."

Tomaszkiewicz did not work on the new expansion, Songs of the Past, so he will finally approach it as a player. "I hope this expansion will be good," he said. "I will play it [for the] first time as a player. And I only have one request… how to say it politely… to do it good."

Many fans share that hope, and CD Projekt Red has been building excitement around the expansion. The Witcher 3 is widely regarded as one of the best entries in the series and among the top RPGs, so expectations for Songs of the Past remain high.
