Former Sunderland defender urges Man Utd to sign Brian Brobbey for £50m
Matt Kilgallon says Brian Brobbey would be a great signing for Manchester United and that a £50 million move would make sense for all involved. The powerful Netherlands international is on 2026 World Cup duty but is already Premier League proven and could change clubs before the window closes.
An Ajax academy graduate, Brobbey joined Sunderland in the summer of 2025 for £17m and produced a productive debut season: seven goals, a derby winner at St James’ Park and a seventh-place finish that qualified the club for the Europa League. At 24 he has attracted admiring glances from Old Trafford and beyond.
Kilgallon praised Sunderland’s recruitment and said the club would struggle to refuse a sizable bid, calling Brobbey “a joke” and “a monster” for the threat he poses. He suggested the striker would see a move to Manchester United as a rare chance and that Sunderland might not stand in his way while trying to extract a bit more money.
