Since Bungie revealed Destiny 2 is being sunset, a wave of tributes from former developers has appeared, gathered by Aftermath. Among them, former lead narrative designer Michael Zenke called the experience "the most toxic, dysfunctional experience of my professional life." He added that the people he worked with were "some of the best in the world at what they do," and that he still considers them friends.

Former QA test lead Uriah Belletto said: "As sad as it is to say, it felt like at some point the people in charge forgot that people play games for fun. They didn't understand that people would play Destiny just to dress up their character, more or less.
