First Look: Mckenna Grace in Green Day-Inspired Coming-of-Age Comedy
A new image from Nimrods shows Mason Thames and Mckenna Grace browsing a convenience store, capturing the film’s mix of small moments and chaotic ambition. Written and directed by Lee Kirk, the movie draws on Green Day’s early years on the road. The story follows three friends who drive to Los Angeles after mistakenly believing their band has landed an opening slot for Green Day on New Year’s Eve, launching a cross-country trip packed with increasingly ridiculous adventures.
The ensemble includes Kylr Coffman, Ryan Foust, Ignacio Diaz-Silverio, Keen Ruffalo, Jenna Fischer, Angela Kinsey, Fred Armisen, Bobby Lee, and Sean Gunn. Green Day members Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt, and Tre Cool serve as producers and helped shape the story inspired by the band’s years living in vans and touring across the country.
Between its punk connection and comedic cast, Nimrods aims for a rowdier take on coming-of-age chaos while highlighting Thames and Grace as young performers building strong resumes.
